Smart Planet SPM-2 SuperPretzel Soft Pretzel Maker

Please do not buy this product. It is VERY misleading. If you are buying this becasue you buy these super pretzels in the supermarket in the frozen section and microwave them at home this is NOT that. The pretzels they make are each about 1.5 inches long even though the picture is designed to make you think you are getting 5 pretzels just like you buy at the ballpark or arena every time you cook a batch.. It's almost comical it's so silly. It makes it look like they make the larger pretzels you are used to eating anytime you buy or make a soft pretzel anywhere but this is NOT that. This is a waste of your $24.

This thing is awesome. My kids and I really enjoyed making pretzels in it. The recipe in the booklet REALLY tasted like a fresh, chewy pretzel-- in my booklet the recipe called for dipping them in a baking soda bath prior to putting in the machine-- that's how I knew they'd turn out ok. But other recipe books I looked at (pdfs of other versions of machine booklets) didn't have the recipe I have in mine. Maybe that's why other people's didn't turn out. I don't know why the company published different recipes (ok, mine is riddled with typos and incomplete instructions) because my first attempt was spot on. In the photos-- same batch, but the nice brown ones were the ones that had the baking soda bath. All were tasty. Raves from everyone in the family.

When something is called a "super pretzel" maker, you expect it to make the big pretzels like you might get at a ball game or zoo. Nowhere in the ad copy for this unit does it say it make mini pretzels. The five pretzels this glorified waffle iron makes are small... 2.5" at their widest point. I feel deliberately deceived by this misrepresentation. To further the illusion the box and the ad copy proudly display the "cheese melting pod", and gives the impression that you are seeing a bowl similar in size and shape to a cereal bowl. Not so. The "pod" is a tiny little cup. Basically this is a waffle iron that can make tiny little pretzel shaped waffles.

Bought it as a gift and it was the most wanted gift at the party.

Christmas gift. Arrived pretty fast and in nice packing. Tested it to make sure it works. No issues at all.

it works great for me, small ropes of dough and just let it heat up i like to make the ropes ahead of time so its just poping them off the press

I was so excited when this arrived in the mail. I chose to make the hot buttered pretzels from the booklet. The recipe is poorly written and I had to make adjustments for it to work with the pretzel maker. If you do not have the exact amount of dough for the molds, the pretzels will not look like a pretzel. The taste was fine, but not really a soft pretzel, more crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I have decided it will be much easier to just bake the pretzels in the oven.
